Jordan Sands Silica Sand 01

ARCH3, LLC conducted a Phase II architecture history investigation for Bolton & Menk, Inc. as part of Jordan Sands, LLC’s proposed expansion of silica sand mining in Blue Earth County. The investigation consisted of historical research and the evaluation of Kasota limestone mining-related properties for listing in the NRHP, including the former James McClure quarry. Active between 1899 and the early 1930s, the historically significant quarry and stockpiles were associated with the growth and development of Mankato/Kasota stone quarrying in Blue Earth County and the development of the quarrying industry in Minnesota in general.
