Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS)

The Historic American Landscapes Survey was established in 2000 to document America’s historically significant landscapes. Each recordation package combines measured drawings, a written narrative history, and perspective-corrected, large format photographs to produce a comprehensive, interdisciplinary record. All HALS project material is housed at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
